Two days before the winter solstice — the darkest stretch of the year, and the exact moment humans have been lighting candles and cooking far too much food for each other for as long as there have been humans.

This is the last Wandering Table of the year, and we cook it accordingly. Winter citrus at its brief, brilliant peak. Summer preserves cracked back open. Chocolate, cream, brandy, and at least one thing that took three days to make. Richer than November. Slower than November.

Seven courses by candlelight, wine poured alongside, and the address in your hand twenty-four hours before you walk through the door.

Bring the people you actually want to end the year with. This is the one where nobody looks at their phone, the last course arrives long after you were sure you’d finished, and somebody starts a story that runs until the candles are low.

Don’t schedule anything after.
